Important changes made for the 2023 season

I am NOT a business person.  While I own a business, being a business person is not my gift.  It does NOT come easy to me.  I don't really know how to run a business.  I kind of stink at the business side of swim lessons.  I realize that being a business person is a large part of running a business, but I hate that side of it.  I wish I could just teach swimming.  My goal is to make Shelleys Swim Lessons LLC an exceptional experience for everyone, but I'm not too naive to know that I don't do everything right.  I am 50 years old and still learning.  I try really hard to come up with the proper policies and "things" but I really am just trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work as I go.  For that, I ask for some grace. If you have any concerns, please come to me.

Classes:  All classes will run for 4 days: Monday through Thursday with MOST Fridays being a scheduled make-up day in the event of inclement weather.   All scheduled make up days are posted along with the class schedule.

Scheduling: All classes will be scheduled online through my website.  This year, I am requiring a non-refundable $25 deposit to be sent to me via mail within 7 days of your confirmation email. If I do not receive the deposit within the 7-day window, you may lose your reservation.  At this time, I am not setting up a Venmo business account due to the high fees charged.  The remaining $105 is requested in CASH ONLY and will be collected on the first day of class. Unfortunately, I had over 75 last minute cancellations/no-shows last year, so this is a necessary step.

Make-ups: Make-ups are not a guarantee.  It is always my goal to give exceptional experiences.  I have been very lenient in the past as I work extremely hard to please everyone.  However, it has really become an enormous strain to manage my business this way.  I understand that life happens.  And because of that, I will evaluate requests for make-ups on an individual level.  Last year, there were occasions when I was able to fit a child here or there into another class or time.  But for the majority of rescheduled classes, I had to squeeze time out of my already busy summer to do most of them.  If you know you will not be able to make it to all 4 classes, please consider choosing a different week.  Last year, I had 29 make-up requests in the first week alone, and approximately 140 requests for the season.  Some of the requests were for multiple days with multiple kids of a single session.  I understand that lessons are short and therefore make-up lessons are also short.  But when I have that many to do, it equates to several extra hours of work.  In addition, I paid a helper for many of those extra hours.

Cancellation policy: If you have started the class already and you decide it is not a "good fit" for your child, there will be no refund.  Please read about my lessons before you sign up.  Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns ahead of time.
