2025 Registration opens in the end of February...Stay tuned.
I am NOT a business person although I certainly try hard. While I own a business, being a business person is not my gift. It does NOT come easy to me. I don't really know how to run a business. I kind of stink at the business side of swim lessons. I realize that being a business person is a large part of running a business, but I hate that side of it. I wish I could just teach swimming. My goal is to make Shelleys Swim Lessons LLC an exceptional experience for everyone, but I'm not too naive to know that I don't do everything right. I am 51 years old and still learning. I try really hard to come up with the proper policies and "things" but I really am just trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work as I go. For that, I ask for some grace. If you have any concerns, please come to me.
Reflection of a very common concern made to me: I am concerned that since my child is scared of lessons, (s)he will develop a fear of the water: Kids will hate what they are afraid of. Until they know how to be safe around the water, they will be scared. If you just stay persistent, they will not be afraid forever. It is not easy. Kids don't always like it. But we make our kids do things they do not like all the time for safety's sake. Most kids do not like wearing a seatbelt, getting immunizations, eating vegetables or going to school. But we make them do it because we know what is best for them and want them to grow up safe and healthy. Learning to be safe in the water is no different except it is a little harder to watch. BUT, if we can allow them to be successful in this environment, they will know they can be successful anywhere. They learn so much more than how to swim. They will learn perseverance, confidence, bravery, problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, exercise, focus, respect, taking on challenges, safety and so much more.
Classes: All classes will run for 4 days: Monday through Thursday with Fridays being a scheduled make-up day in the event of inclement weather. All scheduled make up days and times are posted along with the class schedule.
Scheduling: All classes will be scheduled online through my website. Once you submit your registration form, you will receive an automated email confirming your responses. Filling out the registration form does NOT guarantee you a spot. Within 1 week of receiving your registration form, I will send you a confirmation email stating which class(es) (if any) you will be registered for. I do require a non-refundable $25 deposit PER CHILD/PER SESSION and signed safety waiver to be sent to me within 7 days of receiving your your confirmation email to keep your spot. If I do not receive the deposit within the 7-day window, you may lose your reservation. This year, I will allow you to pay your non-refundable deposit via check, cash, PayPal, Venmo or Apple Pay. However, you must pay the remaining $110 in CASH ONLY and will be collected on the first day of class. All of this information will be included within the confirmation email.
Make-ups: Make-ups are not a guarantee. It is always my goal to give exceptional experiences. I have been very lenient in the past as I work extremely hard to please everyone. However, it has really become an enormous strain to manage my business this way. I understand that life happens. And because of that, I will evaluate requests for make-ups on an individual basis.
Cancellation policy: If you have started the class already and you decide it is not a "good fit" for your child, there will be no refund. Please read about my lessons before you sign up. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns ahead of time.
